FRANKENLENS

This is a personal project. I initially wanted to add a macro aspect, so i took the lens off an old Zeiss icon lens and added hardware to hold the focus. The next iteration took a Leica 50mm collapsible lens to task and basically rebuilt the frankenlens the same but with the better Leica glass.

The next iteration removed the rail and added the aspect of snapping the focus back to place using bungee cord. This allows the user to pull to focus, making every shot different than the next…not only is the focus different, but because the element is no longer restricted, the focal plane is also never the same, meaning a tilt shift effect that isn’t at all that controllable. It really makes for a great collection of shots at the end of a day of shooting.
